Rishabh Pant hit one four and four sixes in the last over off Mohit Sharma.

Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant has more or less booked his ticket in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, thanks to his performance in the ongoing match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Gujarat Titans (GT).

Rishabh Pant has had a very good IPL 2024 thus far for DC despite the fact this is the first time he’s playing competitive cricket at this level after his car accident, that kept him out of the game for almost 15 months.

Pant has been hitting the ball very nicely for DC in the second half of the innings and he showed something similar in the final few overs against GT as well. Especially his assault on Mohit Sharma in the final over of the DC innings will go down as one of the most brutal ones in IPL history.

DC were 193/4 in 19 overs with Pant on 58* in 37 balls. He took a double on the first ball by Mohit Sharma and the next ball was wide. The next five balls slammed into the boundary boards or went into the crowd.

Pant hit 6,4,6,6,6 off the last 5 balls and scored 30 runs off his bat out of the 31 runs DC got in the final over. This took DC to 224/4 with Rishabh remaining not out for 88 runs with eight sixes and five fours.

As a result, not only Mohit Sharma bowled the most expensive over of the IPL 2024 thus far, but ended up with worst figures in the history of IPL – 0/73 in his 4 overs.

Sharma broke the record of Basil Thampi, who in IPL 2018, playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad conceded 70 runs in his 4 overs against Royal Challengers Benglauru.
