ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Squads of all 20 teams

A total of 20 teams will participate in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The next big event in the cricket world is just some days away now. It will be the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which will take place in the USA and West Indies. This tournament will start on June 1 with a game between the USA and Canada. 

The coming tournament will be the biggest edition of the T20 World Cup ever to take place as it will have the 20 best teams across the globe playing against each other. As the start of this ICC event approaches, all teams are announcing their squads that will represent their respective countries. Here, we will talk about the announced squads for all 20 teams.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Squads of all 20 teams

1. New Zealand squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

New Zealand were the first nation to announce their squad for the mega event. They announced an experienced squad that has all the seasoned players. Kane Williamson will be leading the team while Trent Boult made his return. All the big names are back for the team, and it is a balanced squad. New Zealand are in Group C and will play their first game against Afghanistan on June 7.

2. South Africa squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

South Africa are one of the strong contenders to win the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. It is because of the team they have announced. Aiden Markram will be leading the team that has David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Quinton de Kock, and many destructive batters. South Africa will face Sri Lanka in their opening game on June 3.

3. England squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

The defending champions, England, are all set to defend their title and make it two in a row. Jos Buttler will be leading the team once again, and Jofra Archer is back. The team has a number of all-rounders that will give them a number of options to choose from. Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Will Jacks and Phil Salt are in brilliant form as well. England will face Scotland in their opening game on June 4.

4. India squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

The inaugural season winners, Team India, also announced their squad on April 30 that has some new faces. Rohit Sharma is the captain, and Hardik Pandya will be his deputy. Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube got the rewards of good IPL performances. Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh and KL Rahul are the notable omissions. India’s first game is on June 7 against Ireland.

5. Afghanistan squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

Afghanistan have certainly announced a squad considering the slow pitches to be offered in the USA and West Indies. Rashid Khan will lead the team that has around 6-7 all-rounders. Nangyal Kharoti and Mohammad Ishaq are new faces in the squad. But, rest of the players are experienced enough to do well in the big tournament. Afghanistan will play their first game on June 3 against Uganda.

6. Australia squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

The 2021 edition winners Australia also announced their squad on May 1. Mitchell Marsh will be leading the team. Steve Smith has been dropped while David Warner retained his place at the top. The team has a number of pace-bowling all-rounders that will make them brilliant all-round sides. The Australian pace trio of Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc are back. They will face Oman on June 5 to start the campaign for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

7. Nepal squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

Nepal have emerged as one of the fastest growing cricketing nations in the past couple of years. They have taken giant steps in the sport and will be playing in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. They announced their squad on May 1. Star all-rounder Rohit Paudel will lead the squad, and they have announced an experienced side that has been playing for a while now. Nepal will face Netherlands in their opening game on June 4.

8. Oman squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

Oman made it to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 through the Asian Qualifiers. They have also announced their squad for the mega ICC event. The squad looks the same as it has for the last few seasons; the only surprise is the new captain. Veteran opener Aqib Ilyas has replaced Zeeshan Maqsood as the new captain. Oman are placed in Group B and will face Namibia in their opening game on June 3.

9. Canada squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

Canada will be making their first appearance in the T20 World Cup. They announced their squad on May 2, with Saad Zafar named as captain of the side for the ICC event. The team has a mix of young and experienced players, and the combination is pretty good as there are a number of all-rounders available for them. Canada are in Group A, and they will feature in the tournament’s opener on June 1 against the host, the US.

10. West Indies squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

The co-hosts of the tournament, West Indies announced their squad on May 3. With the tournament set to be played at their home, they will enter the tournament as one of the strong contenders. Senior all-rounder Andre Russell has returned to the side. Rovman Powell will be captaining the side with fast bowling Alzarri Joseph being his deputy.

11. United States of America (USA) squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

The co-hosts of the tournament, USA, announced their squad on 5th May. Monank Patel will be leading the side and former Kiwi all-rounder Corey Anderson is also a part of the squad. Indian-origin cricketer Unmukt Chand, who very recently shifted his base from India to USA, didn’t get a chance in the squad.

12. Uganda squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

Uganda became the 20th team to qualify for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. They qualified through the African qualifiers, in which Zimbabwe also took part. Their squad has been announced, and Brian Masaba will be leading his country in this historic event, which is the first ever ICC tournament for them. Uganda are placed in Group C and will play their first match against Afghanistan on June 3.

13. Scotland squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

Scotland will also be back at the ICC event. Scotland played the qualifiers in the last edition as well but couldn’t make it to main round of the tournament. But they are part of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. On May 6, they announced the squad that saw some experienced names coming back. Richie Berrington will lead the squad that saw the return of Michael Jones and Brad Wheal. Scotland will play their first match on June 4 against the defending champions England.

On Tuesday, May 7, Ireland announced their squad for the marquee event. They will feature in Group A, along with India, Pakistan, Canada and the USA. Paul Stirling will be leading the team into the mega event, and the team also has veterans like Andrew Balbirnie and George Dockrell. Ireland will face India in their opening game on June 5.
