Dortmund won 1-0 in first-leg of Champions League semi-finals against UCL

Jadon Sanchoā€™s incredible display during Borussia Dortmundā€™s Champions League semi-final victory over Paris Saint-Germain allowed him to follow in the footsteps of Lionel Messi.

With a goal from Niclas Fullkrug in the 35th minute, Dortmund won 1-0 at Signal Iduna Park in the first leg, and Sancho was in outstanding form. With an incredible display, the Manchester United loanee became the sole Englishman to collect 11 or more take-ons in a single Champions League match.

He was also the first to accomplish this in a semifinal since 2008ā€™s Lionel Messi, who finished 16 takeaways against Manchester United.

During his miserable tenure at United, where he scored twelve goals, Sancho never finished more than seven takeaways in a single league game in his fifty-eight league appearances; nonetheless, he accomplished so in half an hour against PSG.

Jadon Sanchoā€™s incredible numbers against PSG

Sancho became the player who finished the most take-on (12), won the most duels (13), and created the most opportunities (three) against PSG.

This weekendā€™s Bundesliga match between Dortmund and Augsburg and next weekā€™s second leg against PSG in the French capital will provide Sancho even another opportunity to show off his skills.

Confused, Sancho decided to lash out at his boss, accusing him of being used as a scapegoat. The striker was eventually sent on loan to Dortmund in January after this led to his expulsion from the first-team roster.

In his 17 club games since moving to Germany, the 24-year-old has recorded three goals and two assists. Sa Meanwhile, Unitedā€™s prospects of qualifying for the Champions League have been dashed the following season as their hopes of finishing in the top four look unlikely.

Germany has been guaranteed a fifth Champions League spot for the upcoming season, along with Italy, thanks to their victory over PSG. Although England was vying for that slot, only the top four will advance to the revamped Champions League due to the Premier League clubsā€™ subpar performances in Europe.
