The German coach wants to continue managing Austria
Rejecting the chance to take over as Bayern Munich manager after Thomas Tuchel, Ralf Rangnick has chosen to stay as head coach of the Austrian national team.
The manager position at Bayern has been strongly connected to the former Manchester United temporary manager, who will lead Austria at the European Championship in Germany this summer.
Since Thomas Tuchel and Bayern have decided to part ways at the end of the current campaign, 2024–2025 will need a new coach. Supporters have launched a petition urging Tuchel to continue, but he has not indicated that he will consider a change of heart.
“I am the Austrian team boss with all my heart,” Rangnick said in a statement on Thursday.
“I really enjoy this task and am determined to successfully continue on our chosen path.

“I would like to expressly emphasize that this is not a rejection of FC Bayern, but rather a decision for my team and our common goals. Our full concentration is on the European Championships. We will do everything we can to get as far as possible!”
Following an entertaining 2-2 draw with Real Madrid in Champions League semi-final at home Tuchel will hope to steer his side in second-leg in an attempt to prevail over the Spanish side to take his side to the final of the competition.
Who can replace Thomas Tuchel at Bayern?
The former manager of Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund has a number of possible successors who have been suggested. After leading Bayer Leverkusen to the Bundesliga victory, Xabi Alonso was regarded as a major target, but he has decided to stay put this summer. In addition, Julian Nagelsmann decided against going back to his native Bavaria after choosing to prolong his contract with the German national team.
The favourite to take over at Bayern is currently Roberto De Zerbi, the manager of Brighton. Other theories include the possibility of Hansi Flick returning for a second stint at the top or the possibility of former Real Madrid and Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho returning to the top after being fired by Roma in January.
