IPL 2024 updated points table, Orange Cap & Purple cap after match 31 KKR vs RR

Jos Buttler’s unbeaten ton helped RR defeat KKR in match No. 31 of the IPL 2024.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hosted Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 31st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 in a battle of the top two in this tournament. RR came into this game as the No. 1 spot holder, while KKR were at the No. 2 spot.

RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to bat first. KKR opened with Sunil Narine and Phil Salt, and after receiving a lifeline, Phil Salt was caught and bowled by Avesh Khan for 10 runs.

Then Angkrish Raghuvanshi (30) and Sunil Narine added a vital 85 runs for the second wicket, with Narine hitting the RR bowlers all around the Eden Gardens ground. Aside from him, Rinku Singh scored 20* in 8 balls as KKR reached 223/6 in 20 overs.

Sunil Narine, on the other hand, dominated the KKR innings. Narine, who was playing his 504th T20 match, has finally got his first T20 hundred. He scored 109 runs, including 13 fours and six sixes.

Rajasthan Royals (RR), in reply, were shouldered by Jos Buttler. Riyan Parag (34), Yashasvi Jaiswal (19) along with Buttler gave a good start for RR as they made 100 in 8.2 overs. But then Harshit Rana, Varun, and Sunil Narine rattled the middle order of the RR team.

Then Jos Buttler single-handedly took over the chase and got some help from Rovman Powell who made 26 in 13 balls only. He scored a brilliant century and took RR home remaining unbeaten on 107 in 60 balls with 6 sixes and 9 fours to his name.

RR won the match by two wickets chasing down 226 runs on the last ball of the match as they equaled their record for highest chase ever in IPL.

IPL 2024 Updated Points Table:

Rajasthan Royals (RR) won the match by two wickets and continued to reign at the top of the IPL 2024 points table. They now have 6 wins from 7 matches 12 points to their name and NRR of 0.677. Despite losing the game, KKR remain at the No. 2 spot with 4 wins and 2 losses from 6 games. KKR has a NRR of 1.399.

The No. 3 spot belongs to CSK, who have 8 points from 6 games and an NRR of 0.726, while Sunrisers Hyderabad have 8 points from 6 games as well, but with NRR of 0.502, they’re placed fourth. The top five is completed by LSG, who have 3 wins from 6 games and 6 points to their name with NRR of 0.038.

IPL 2024: Most Runs (Orange Cap):

After the 31st match of the IPL 2024, the only change in the Orange Cap lineup for the most runs came that Sunil Narine, who scored his maiden T20 and IPL century, has leapfrogged to the third spot. Narine now has 276 runs in 6 matches with one fifty and one century.

Virat Kohli continues to reign supreme on the No. 1 spot with 361 runs in 7 matches with a strike rate of 147.34. Riyan Parag, who made 34 in 14 balls for RR v KKR, is at the second spot with 318 runs to his name. Sanju Samson with 276 runs and Rohit Sharma with 261 runs are at No. 4 and 5 respectively.

IPL 2024: Most Wickets (Purple Cap):

The table for the most wickets for Purple Cap remains unchanged with Yuzvendra Chahal at the top with 12 wickets to his name. He went for 54 runs in this match against KKR for his one wicket. On the second spot is Jasprit Bumrah with 10 wickets to his name.

Mustafizur Rahman of Chennai Super Kings with 10 wickets and Pat Cummins, SRH captain with 9 wickets are at the No. 3 and 4 positions respectively. Punjab Kings’ Kagiso Rabada with 9 wickets completes the top five.
