[Watch] Rishabh Pant hits helicopter shot off Nuwan Thushara for a 6

Rishabh Pant scored 29 off 19 deliveries during his stay at the crease against MI.

Rishabh Pant is leading the Delhi Capitals (DC) in their ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on April 27, 2024. DC are sixth on the IPL points table with 8 points from 9 games, while MI are ninth on the table with 6 points from 8 games to their name.

Both teams need to win this match to gain two valuable points to remain in the race for IPL 2024 playoffs. MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first in Delhi’s heat in the afternoon game.

Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel opened the batting for DC and managed to give a flying start to their team. Porel played the supporting role with 36 in 27 balls with 3 fours and 1 six. But the star was Fraser-McGurk, who equaled his own record of fastest fifty in this IPL 2024 in just 15 balls.

He smashed 84 in just 27 balls with 11 fours and 6 sixes to his name before he was dismissed by Piyush Chawla. After his dismissal, Porel fell to Mohammad Nabi, bringing in Shai Hope and Rishabh Pant to the crease.

Shai Hope took apart the MI bowlers in his short innings of 41 runs in just 17 balls with 5 sixes to his name. When he got out, DC had 180 runs in 13.4 overs only. Rishabh Pant continued this mayhem with his bat.

Despite taking some time for Pant to get going, his impact came in the 13th over against MI’s Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara. Thushara, who possesses a bowling action as same to Lasith Malinga, was first hit for a four on the second ball of the over. Then after a couple of singles, Pant showcased a brilliant display of hitting.

Thushara bowled a fullish length delivery to Pant on the middle stump, before Rishabh whipped his bat and hit a ‘Helicopter Shot’ sending the ball soaring over deep midwicket for a six. It was brute power from strong bottom hands and wrists.
