Jose Hevia: We are working hard to improve tactics, fitness
The Spanish boss is preparing the squad for their upcoming I-League season.
Mohammedan Sporting Club coach Jose Hevia says each day his players are growing stronger as a team during their pre-season. The Spanish mastermind has been overwhelmed with players’ commitment to training since taking the helm of the team last week.
“I think the boys are really working hard. I am extremely happy with the attitude, the commitment and the focus of the players at training. We are working hard to improve the tactics, fitness and psychological approach. Each day we grow stronger and are more united as a team,” he said.
There are few new faces in the current Black Panthers roster alongside some experienced players such as Priyant Singh, Tirthankar Sarkar, Satyam Sharma, Balwinder Singh, Shafiul Rahman and Vanlalbiaa Chhangte.
Hevia stressed how well the new inclusions are doing in training and their strong bond with the rest of the squad.
“Players are interacting more with each other building more chemistry and the new group of players has adapted well with the rest of the team,” he added.
“What we have been doing in the training sessions in a competitive environment so we can assess what is working and what is not so we can make improvements for the next session to try and minimize the mistakes we make. We know the challenges ahead of us and each day we sweat more in practice so we bleed less in battle,” Hevia explained.
“I know that the supporters want to win the I-League and that’s what we all want. That comes with pressure, but that’s no problem. I am used to pressure. We are working hard to fulfill the fans’ wish to get the I-League. We will fight for our jersey, our colours and our badge to defend our honour,” he concluded.
