Barcelona planning summer loan move for former La Masia product Xavi Simons
Xavi Simons graduated from Barcelona La Masia Academy
Barcelona will reportedly attempt to bargain with PSG for Xavi Simons for a loan move, according to El Chiringuito. Arsenal’s hopes of acquiring players in the summer could be derailed by Barcelona’s planned surprise attack on PSG’s star.
The financially strapped Camp Nou team is reportedly trying to work out a deal to sign Xavi Simons from the Ligue 1 winners. This information comes from a newspaper from Spain.
The player came to the attention of the Gunners when it was disclosed that Mikel Arteta has been following the Dutchman’s development for a long time.
While Simons would undoubtedly be considered at Arsenal, Barcelona are also interested in the 21-year-old, who attended their La Masia programme for nine years.
At the time, Pedro Neto was the top priority for the Gunners. However, with another setback due to injury, it is unclear what action the Emirates club will now take in search of a wide attacker.

Barca will reportedly attempt to bargain with PSG for the player, according to El Chiringuito. It seems that despite the Parisians eliminating Xavi’s team from the Champions League, ties with the Ligue 1 team have recently improved.
Barcelona’s financial situation makes a deal difficult to complete. On the other hand, a player who discovers himself at RB Leipzig at the moment may be loaned out in a similar fashion.
It is understandable, then, why the Blaugrana are so happy to have him back.
With his effortless technique, versatility as a player, and of course his devastating ability—scorching seven goals and creating eleven more this season in the Bundesliga—he epitomises the club’s traditions.
Simons has a lot of options on what to do next.
While it has been suggested that PSG may invite him back to fill in for Kylian Mbappe at Parc des Princes, RB Leipzig has made it clear that they intend for him to stay with them for the upcoming season.
