When does Copa America 2024 start?

USA will host the competition this summer

Copa America 2024 will take place in the United States as 16 teams prepare to become the champions of their continent. This is the second time that the USA will have the honour to host Copa America.

The tournament is organised by CONMEBOL and CONCACAF are the co-hosts. Argentine are the defending champions of the Copa America.

Ecuador were looking like the hosts of the 2024 edition. In 2022, they declined to host the tournament. Peru and the United States expressed their desire to organise the tournament. On January 27, 2023, it was announced that as part of CONCACAF and CONMEBOL’s new strategic partnership, the USA would host the tournament with six CONCACAF guest teams qualifying through the CONCACAF Nations League 2023-24.

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela represent the CONMEBOL nations.

Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, the United States, Canada and Costa Rica represent the CONCACAF nations.

The 16 teams are divided into groups of four. The top two teams from each group qualify for the knockout stage. Group A winner will face the runners-up of Group B. The Group B winner will take on the Group A runners-up. This process will continue in the other two groups as well.
